SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates guarantee the authenticity of a website identity through a specific validation process executed by a certification authority.
The certified SSL encryption assures that information is kept private between your web server and the clients' web browsers.
There are three types of validation:
- Organization Validation (OV) includes business identity authentication, domain name verification and verification that the organizational contact applying for the certificate on behalf of the company or organization is an employee of that organization.
- Extended Validation (EV) is the highest level of authentication and required a signed acknowledgment or agreement from the corporate.
- Domain Validation (DV) verifies that the applicant had administrative rights to the domain listed in the certificate.
Our Portal offers the following types of certificates:
The values “250” and “1000” found here are the official numbers from the CAs. However, attempting to send so many or close to these numbers may result in a timeout. Therefore, we have included the suggested value in brackets. The value in brackets should be treated as the maximum to ensure the request is executed successfully.

Immediate Issuance
If supported SafeBrands will always perform an immediate issuance. Immediate issuance allows for a faster issuance of domain-validated certificates (DV). It’s supported for most domain validated certificates together with DNS-TXT based authentication (you can choose between TXT records and CNAME validation).
Additional contacts for OV and EV certificates
Contact data is automatically reused for validation, this affects OV and EV certificates.
When ordering certificates with organizational validation these additional contacts are required:
- Organization contact
- Organization contact person
Certificates with extended validation require these additional contacts:
- Approver contact
- Organization contact
- Organization contact person
These contacts can be entered in the order form of the shopping card.
More flexible pricing
Most certificate types allow a mixing of wildcard and non-wildcard SANs. As a result, SSL certificates have now four price points per certificate type:
- Annual price or base price: this is the annual price used in case the certificate includes no wildcard names.
- Annual wildcard price or wildcard base price: this is the annual price used in case the certificate includes at least one wildcard name.
- Additional price per non-wildcard SAN: this is charged for each non-wildcard SAN beyond the number of non-wildcard SANs included in the base price.
- Additional price per wildcard SAN: this is charged for each wildcard SAN beyond the number of wildcard SANs included in the base price.
